Though most states collect nursing workforce data, it is often inconsistent between states. Efforts continue to identify the specifics of a nursing minimum data set to be collected in a standardized manner by each state and reported to a national database.

To achieve this goal, the Indiana Center for Nursing (ICN) participates with the National Forum of State Nursing Workforce Centers and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing as they outline a plan.

On a state level, the ICN Data Committee works collectively with the Indiana State Board of Nursing, the Bowen Center for Health Workforce Research and Policy, the Indiana Area Health Education Centers and others to gather and analyze data. ICN also actively participates on the Governor’s Health Workforce Council.
